Avian paramyxovirus 2 Yucaipa APMV

2) A species in the genus Rubulavirus. Isolated in southern California, USA from tracheal exudate of chickens with severe laryngotracheitis in which the main cause of disease was infectious laryngotra-cheitis virus. Yucaipa virus causes only mild disease. Similar to Newcastle disease virus but an antigenically distinct species. Synonym: Yucaipa virus.

Avian paramyxovirus 3 (APMV-3) A

species in the genus Rubulavirus. Isolated from turkeys in Wisconsin, USA and in Ontario, Canada. Isolates have also been made from psittacines. Similar to Newcastle disease virus but antigenically distinct from it, and from Yucaipa virus and Bangor virus (Avian paramyxovirus 5).

Avian paramyxovirus 4 (APMV-4) A

species in the genus Rubulavirus. Isolated from domestic poultry in Hong Kong and USA and from wild ducks in Japan.

Avian paramyxovirus 5 (Kunitachi) (APMV-5)

Avian paramyxovirus 5 (Kunitachi)

(APMV-5) A species in the genus Rubulavirus. Isolated from the lung of a budgerigar, Melopsittacus undulatus, which died during an epizootic in Kunitachi, Tokyo, Japan. Replicates in the amniotic cavity of embryonated hen's eggs and in chick-embryo cell cultures. Agglutinates chicken, goose, duck, guinea pig and human O erythrocytes at 4°C and 25°C, but activity not stable in amniotic fluid. Causes a fatal disease on injection into budgerigars. Synonym: Kunitachi virus.

Avian paramyxovirus 6 (APMV-6) A

species in the genus Rubulavirus. Isolated from ducks in Hong Kong and Japan.

Avian paramyxovirus 7 (APMV-7) A

species in the genus Rubulavirus. Isolated from doves in Tennessee, USA. Other members of the species identified in Japan and UK.

Avian paramyxovirus 8 (APMV-8) A

species in the genus Rubulavirus, serolog-ically distinct from other avian paramyxoviruses. The prototype virus was isolated from a hunter-killed Canadian goose, Branta canadensis, in Delaware, USA in 1976.

Avian paramyxovirus 9 (APMV-9) A

species in the genus Rubulavirus, serolog-ically distinct from other avian paramyxoviruses. The prototype virus was isolated from a sick domestic white Pekin duck on Long Island, New York, USA in 1978.

Avian paramyxoviruses (APMV 1-9)

Species in the genus Rubulavirus. Includes Newcastle disease virus (avian paramyxovirus 1)and a number of viruses isolated from birds which are antigeni-cally distinguishable from it and from each other. They include Yucaipa virus, Bangor virus, turkey parainfluenza virus, budgerigar parainfluenza virus and Kunitachi virus.
