Detroit-525 cells (CCL 65) A cell line derived from skin tissue obtained from a three-and-a-half-year-old Caucasian girl who exhibited some of the symptoms diagnostic of Turner's syndrome.

Detroit-529 cells (CCL 66) A cell line, derived from skin tissue obtained from a two-and-a-half-year-old Caucasian girl who exhibited symptoms and signs of Down's syndrome.

Detroit-532 cells (CCL 54) A cell line derived from the foreskin tissue of a two-month-old Caucasian infant with Down's syndrome. Used for the isolation and propagation of cytomegaloviruses.

Detroit-548 cells (CCL 116) A cell line derived from a skin biopsy of a Caucasian female infant exhibiting anomalies associated with D trisomy syndrome.

Detroit-551 cells (CCL 110) A cell line derived from the skin of a Caucasian female embryo which may be considered to be normal and may serve as a control for the study of cells having mutant chromosomes.

Detroit-562 cells (CCL 138) A heteroploid cell line derived from metastatic carcino-matous cells in pleural fluid obtained from an adult Caucasian female who had a primary carcinoma of the pharynx.

Detroit-573 cells (CCL 117) A cell line derived from a skin biopsy of a deceased newborn Caucasian female with multiple congenital abnormalities.

dexamethasone 9a-Fluoro-16a-methyl-prednisolone. A synthetic glucocorticoid which, when added to certain lines of mammary tumor cells in culture, stimulates the rate of production of Mouse mammary tumor virus. Probably acts by increasing cell gene transcription.

Dhori virus (DHOV)

Dhori virus (DHOV) A species in the genus Thogotovirus, with a genome containing seven negative-stranded RNA segments. Isolated from a tick, Hyalomma dromedarii, in India, Egypt and the Volga River delta in the former USSR. Antibodies are frequently found in sera from camels in India. Not reported to cause disease in humans.
