Picornaviridae.

hard pad A disease of dogs caused by Canine distemper virus in which there is tenderness and keratinization of the skin of the feet. Later nervous involvement and death usually occur.

Hardy-Zuckerman feline sarcoma virus (HZFeSV) A replication-defective species in the genus Gammaretrovirus. Obtained from multicentric fibrosarcomas in cats, and the result of recombination between Feline leukemia virus and various host oncogenes. HZFeSV strain 1 carries the transduced fes oncogene, and strain 2 the abl oncogene, both of which encode tyro-sine kinase. HZFeSV strain 4 carries the

Hare fibroma virus (FIBV) A species in the genus Leporipoxvirus. Serologically related to Myxoma virus. Causes fibromas in hares in southern France and northern Italy. Transmissible to rabbits. May be identical to fibrosarcoma virus of hares described by von Dungern and Coca in 1903.
