Infectious catarrh of rats See pneumonia virus of rats

infectious center assay A technique for determining the proportion of cells in a cell suspension that are able to release infectious virus. A suspension of cells infected with a virus is layered on a cell monolayer culture, and covered with a layer of solid medium to prevent the virus released from spreading too widely. Cells which release virus form plaques (infectious centers) in the monolayer.
