Mink endogenous type C RNA virus A

mammalian type C retrovirus. After about 100 generations in culture the mink cell line MV1LU produced sedimentable reverse transcriptase activity. This activity was the result of activation of virus endogenous to the mink cells. The DNA of normal mink cells had extensive nucleotide sequence homology with the viral nucleic acid, demonstrating that the virus was an endogenous virus of mink.
