pigeon adenovirus (PiAdV) A tentative species in the genus Aviadenovirus. Isolated from pigeons with inclusion body hepatitis. The virus kills one-day-old specific pathogen-free chicks within 3 days. Adult racing pigeons were resistant. The genome DNA restriction enzyme profile resembles that of Fowl adenovirus D.

pigeon circovirus (PiCV) A virus similar to but distinct from Beak and feather disease virus that has been diagnosed retrospectively by electron microscopy and histological examination in 12 pigeons from the US, 4 from Australia and 1 from Canada that died from 1986 to 1993. Inclusions consisting of paracrystalline arrays of tightly packed, non-enveloped icosahedral virions 14-17nm in diameter were found in splenic, bursal, gut-associated and bronchus-associated lymphoid tissue macrophages and in bursal epithelial cells. The virus appears to be genetically distinct from Beak and feather disease virus.
