Pustular dermatitis of camels virus A

possible species in the genus Parapoxvirus. Causes pustular dermatitis in camels.

P1-1-Ut (NBL-9) cells (CCL 74) A hetero-ploid cell line derived from trypsinized uterine tissue of an adult raccoon, Procyon lotor. Developed for studies of canine and feline viruses, since the raccoon is one of the few animals known to be susceptible to both groups.

Puumala virus (PUUV) A species in the genus Hantavirus. A natural infection of the bank vole, Clethrionomys glareolus and C. rufocanus, from which the virus was isolated in Vero cells. In humans causes nephropathia epidemica, an acute fever with renal involvement recognized in Scandinavia and several other countries in Europe, including Russia. Mortality is low (less than 1%). Cross-reacts antigeni-cally more strongly with North American hantaviruses (Prospect Hill and Sin Nombre viruses) than with Hantaan or Seoul viruses.
