salmonid herpesvirus 1 (SaHV-1) An unas-signed virus in the family Herpesviridae. Isolated from a post-spawning steelhead trout, Salmo gairdneri. Chum salmon fry, Oncorhynchus keta, are also susceptible. Synonym: herpesvirus salmonis.

salmonid herpesvirus 2 (SaHV-2) An unas-signed virus in the family Herpesviridae. Isolated from salmon, Oncorhynchus masou, in Japan. Causes renal failure and liver atrophy in yamame (landlocked O. masou).

Synonym: Oncorhynchus masou her-pesvirus.

California encephalitis virus in the genus Bunyavirus, belonging to the California serogroup. Isolated from mosquitoes in Texas, USA. Antibodies found in raccoons and opossums. Not reported to cause disease in humans.

Sanban virus A TTV-like virus detected in serum of a patient in Japan. A single-stranded circular DNA virus with only 57% homology to TTV.

Sandfly fever Naples virus (SFNV) A species in the genus Phlebovirus, belonging to the Salehabad complex, sandfly fever serogroup. Antigenically distinct from sandfly fever Sicilian virus. Strains or serotypes include Karimabad virus, Sabin virus, Tehran virus and Toscana virus.
