Benign Ampullary Tumors

Ampullary neoplasms are rare, but they are becoming more recongnized over the last decade, with the increased use of endoscopy in the examination of patients with upper gastrointestinal symptoms. Endoscopic management of benign ampullary neoplasms has supplanted the traditional surgical approach of pancreaticoduodenectomy in specific clinical settings at many referral centers, such as ours. However, the sessile nature of some of these lesions may make endoscopic resection technically challenging.
