Myxoid pseudocyst is one of the most frequent degenerative lesions of the nail area. Most commonly located in the proximal nail fold, it starts with a myxomatoid degeneration of the connective tissue which at first contains thin strands of loose connective tissue and stellate fibroblasts. The mucin masses eventually enlarge and compress the marginal connective tissue to form a denser pseudocapsule. Neither immunohistochemistry nor electron microscopy has revealed a cyst lining of synovial cells even though the majority of pseudocysts later communicate with adjacent distal interphalangeal joint. the
