Adpkd Ultrasonographic Diagnostic Criteria

Minimal number of cysts to establish a diagnosis of ADPKD in PKD1 families at risk.

Presymptomatic diagnosis Is advisable in families when early management of affected patients would be altered

(eg, because of history of intracranial aneurysm) Should be made available to persons at risk who are 18 years or older who request the test

Should be preceded by information about the possibility of inconclusive results and the consequences of the diagnosis: If negative, reassurance

If positive, regular medical follow-up, possible psychological burden, risk of disqualification from employment and insurances
