Figure 1635

Recent univariate analysis of risk factors by the North American Pediatric Renal Transplant Cooperative Study. Although the mechanisms that lead to thrombosis are unclear, numerous factors have been implicated, whether they be by direct or indirect means. In cadaveric donor kidney recipients, children less than 2 years of age had a significantly higher rate of thrombosis, as did children who received kidneys from donors who were under 5 years of age. Recipients of cadaveric donor kidneys with prolonged cold ischemia time had a higher rate of thrombosis than did those with a cold ischemia time under 24 hours. ATN—acute tubular necrosis.
